Disneyland
No one forgets the first time they go to a Disney park. So you can imagine how excited I was when Jill and I decided to go to Disneyland last weekend. We're both Disney fans, and though Jill has been to Disney parks before, this was my maiden voyage.
We set sail for Anaheim on Friday evening, spent Saturday at Disneyland, and the first half of Sunday at California Adventure before heading back to San Francisco. We spent our nights at The Candycane Inn, and our days being transported through the various worlds of Disney's imagination. The employees at Disneyland were cast members, and every ride a scene that we were a part of.
Disneyland brought out the little kids in us, but also the historians. In between scenes, we read through the three books on Disneyland history we brought. And maybe I'm a nerd1 but I would have had a blast even if that was all we did.
There isn't any one thing I can point to and say, "this is what makes Disneyland great".2 Rather, it's the sum of every detail in the park — meticulously executed — that makes it the happiest place on Earth.
